Marijuana & Your Baby: Know the Facts Client Handout

At the Lake County Health Department WIC, I was tasked with transforming the Marijuana & Your Baby: Know the Risks client handout.  I altered its design and researched current evidence-based guidelines for marijuana use while pregnant and breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding and Marijuana Use Provider Update

For the Lake County Health Department WIC, I instituted the breastfeeding and marijuana use provider update. To develop this update, I utilized current research and evidence-based guidelines to inform healthcare providers on patients that are breastfeeding and using marijuana. This provider update presents counseling protocol and emphasizes referral to WIC International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC).

Nutrition Education Lesson Plans

At the Quinn Center of St. Eulalia Parish, I developed four lesson plans for the afterschool programming serving grades 1st through 8th. The lessons were as follows:

Pregnancy and Lactation Guide

At Loyola's School-Based Health Center at Proviso East High School, I developed the Pregnancy and Lactation Guide for students and dietetic interns, serving to inform and provide guidance for medical nutrition therapy.

At Loyola's School-Based Health Center at Proviso East High School, I developed the Pirate Pantry Flyer to increase student awareness of the new Pirate Pantry, offering food items, personal hygiene items, and school supplies.​
